Andrew Megill conducted the Kantorei in its latest performance on Monday titled “Bach In Context,” which took place in the Gill Chapel.
Westminster Kantorei is a chamber choir specializing in music of the Renaissance and Baroque eras. It was founded in 2004 and occasionally ventures into later collections, including new works.
The show featured music by Johann Sebastian Bach in its original context. The Westminster Kantorei and the Westminster Department of Sacred Music collaborated to revamp Bach’s Leipzig, including his “Mass in G Minor.” Kantorei performed with the Baroque orchestra, which performed on original instruments.
