Treasurer: Kimberly Doerrhoefer
Hometown: Brick, N.J.
Year: Junior
Major: Finance & Management/Leadership
Clubs/Activities:Leadership Development Program and SGA Finance Board
Why are you running for this position? I want to serve and be a voice for the students at Rider University. I want to make everyone’s experience at Rider a memorable one. I have previous experience being on Finance Board for the past two years passing budgets, funding programs from the SAF and working with clubs/organizations on campus. I feel I have a good understanding of the inner workings of student government and am certain I will be a worthy addition to the SGA executive board.
What changes would you like to see made next year? If given the opportunity to serve as your SGA Treasurer, I would like to see the money you pay in the Student Activities Fee be used for more campus wide programming for everyone to enjoy. I would also like to work more closely with clubs and organizations to help them use their budgets more efficiently and in ways that will improve them as a whole. I would like to see clubs make better use of their budgets and allocate their money before coming to Finance Board for additional funds.
How would you go about making those changes? These changes could be made by educating the clubs on how to use their budget to its advantage. In addition to yearly budget clinics, I would like to work more closely with the clubs to demonstrate to them an ideal working budget and have their elected finance board liaisons better assist them in developing their budgets. By doing this, hopefully clubs will have a better understanding of how much funding they will need to sustain themselves. I would also like to encourage more creative programming on campus so we can receive the most “bang for our buck.”
