Switlik residents fall victim to burglaries

A slew of burglaries was reported last weekend when several pricey electronics and other personal items were listed as missing, said Vickie Weaver, director of Public Safety.

Three separate burglaries took place in Switlik Hall, all between Friday, Nov. 9, and Sunday, Nov. 11, said Weaver.

All three rooms had their doors unlocked, she said.

“When you leave the room, the office, lock the doors,” she said. “When you go to bed at night, lock your doors. If you see anything, call it in immediately to Public Safety at x. 7777.”

The first incident to be reported was on Saturday, Nov. 10, at 7:55 p.m. A female student reported that a laptop valued at $1,000 was missing from her room. Lawrence Township Police Department (LTPD) services were accepted to take a report.

The second incident was also reported on Saturday, Nov. 10, where two laptops and a wallet were reported missing. One laptop and the wallet belonged to a visitor. The articles went missing sometime between Friday, Nov. 9, and Saturday, Nov. 10.

The last incident reported was on Sunday, Nov. 11, at 12:46 p.m. Two iPods, a laptop, jewelry, DVDs, clothing and XBOX video game controllers were missing. It occurred sometime between Friday, Nov. 9, and Saturday, Nov. 10. LTPD services were declined.
