The field hockey team is making its typical run. If the Broncs’ nine-game winning streak caught you off guard, than you haven’t followed the Rider field hockey program too closely in the past.
The 35th ranked team in the nation has reeled off nine straight victories en route to a 12-3 record and a 5-0 mark in the NEC, good for a first place tie in the conference.
The blistering streak is nothing new for this group, but its recent stretch — by the numbers — has been astonishing.
In league play, Rider has yet to surrender a goal, outscoring the opposition a combined 17-0. During its win streak, the Broncs have dismantled its opponents, outscoring its competition 32-2.
Rider has a history of closing strong and gearing up for the postseason. In 2008-2009, the Broncs finished 9-1 in its final 10 regular season games. Last year, Rider concluded the regular season with an overall mark of 17-1.
This year, they’re at it again, and it shouldn’t surprise anyone.
