State Sen. Shirley Turner, a democrat serving New Jersey’s 15th district and associate director of Rider’s Career Services, was re-elected Tuesday, after beating Republican challenger Bob Martin.

Based on unofficial results from the Mercer County Clerk’s Office Web site, Turner was leading Martin 20,005 to 11,905 with 100 percent of the voting precincts reporting.

“It feels good to get another four years,” she said. “I am humbled and gratified that the voters have the conviction to elect me for my fourth term.”

She will focus her efforts on property taxes, crime and gang problems and making the state more affordable. Education is another top priority, she said.

She thanked Martin for running a clean campaign.

“It was a good race,” she said. “I hope he remains involved.”

Calls left at Martin’s campaign office were not returned.
