A male freshman resident student in Conover hall rose his white flag early when Public Safety arrived at his room on the report of suspected marijuana at 8:36 p.m., on Monday, Oct. 24 Within Public Safety’s first inquiry of the scent, the student admitted to possessing marijuana and turned over the illegal substances.
Public Safety then received consent to search the room and found additional suspected marijuana and a smoking device. Lawrence Police Dept. was notified and took the student into custody. The university also charged the resident with harmful use and possession of illegal substances.
A female resident student and member of the sorority Zeta Tau Alpha started off on the wrong side of the tree branch on Thursday, Oct. 20. At 12:10 p.m., the student reported that her car was struck by a fallen branch while parked in the sorority lot. The limb fell across the fence line and crashed through the windshield. Public Safety arrived and notified local police who took a report on the incident.
