Narcotics

A male resident student was cited by Public Safety and arrested by Lawrence Township Police Department (LTPD) officers for suspected narcotics and paraphernalia possession just before Thanksgiving break.

On Monday, Nov. 23, at 10:23 p.m., Public Safety responded to a call from a female staff member in Olson Hall. She stated that while doing fire and safety checks before the break, she saw illegal drug paraphernalia in plain sight in one of the rooms. Two other female staff members also saw it.

The student admitted that the paraphernalia was his. He willingly turned in the paraphernalia, as well as additional narcotics and alcohol, over to Public Safety officers. He also authorized a voluntary search of his room, which turned up no other illegal substances. LTPD was called and responded.

The underage student was cited for violating Rider’s drug and alcohol policies.
