Letter to the Editor: Praise for reporting

Today, I received a printed copy of the Nov. 4 issue of The Rider News. The coverage of the recently announced program and faculty cuts was excellent. The stories (by writers Thomas Regan, Alexis Schulz, Brandon Scalea, Thomas Albano and Gianluca D’Elia) were professional, carefully reported, well-written and engaging. Additionally, Emily Kelley’s front page photo (especially the one of Katelyn Kelly) and the two editorials (Alexis Schulz and Thomas Regan) enhanced the edition’s coverage and the reader’s understanding of the story.
Congratulations on producing superior journalism; I hope you intend to submit this issue as part of an application for a collegiate journalism award such as those offered by the Society of Professional Journalists, the Associated Collegiate Press or National Pacemaker Awards.
