Congratulations are in order for the new Executive Board of SGA. On Tuesday, juniors Brian Williams and Michael Blake were elected to the positions of president and treasurer, while freshmen Lorelei Colbert and Adam Grossman will be the new vice president and secretary, respectively.
As rising sophomores, Colbert and Grossman will likely set out to prove that they have what it takes to enact positive change at Rider.
One change we would like to see is the timely release of election vote totals, which were not released to the entire campus community this year. Brian Guzman, current president of SGA, said that information is available upon request at the Office of Campus Life. But when The Rider News requested that information, it was not provided.
Guzman said the decision to keep the numbers confidential is to spare the feelings of those who did not win. But that’s not a strong enough reason. Next year, the new Executive Board should make the vote totals available immediately after the election.
Having said that, all of the winners have good ideas for what they want to do next year and we wish them well.
