A special event will take place Saturday during the intermission of Rider’s club ice hockey game against Monmouth. Not only will the Broncs take the ice for their game, but during the first intermission they will host a fifteen minute sled hockey game featuring the Virtua Wings of Steel.

The members of the Wings are handicapped, but with the aid of a sled and a pair of ice picks that double as a stick to propel them, they are able to enjoy the game of hockey. Sled hockey is a popular Paralympics sport that originated in Sweden in the 1960.

The Wings of Steel play in the Atlantic Sled Hockey League (ASHL) which consists of
six teams.  The Wings are currently 6-0 this season.

The Rider hockey team encourages all of its fans to come enjoy the game as well as enjoy the action from the Wings of Steel. All proceeds from the door will be donated on their behalf. The game begins at 9 p.m. at the Loucks Ice Center, located on the campus of the Lawrenceville School.
