For the next month, the University Art Gallery will play host to the works of Peter Stroud, a constructionist painter. His exhibition, entitled “Paintings: 1970 to 2007” premiered yesterday; it features abstract color-field paintings. Stroud will give a public talk in the gallery on Thursday, Sept. 27, at 5 p.m.
The London-born Stroud began his art career in the late 1950s. His works have been featured in galleries across the globe, including The Institute of Contemporary Art in London, the Galerie Muller in Paris and the Guggenheim Museum in New York.
Stroud has also received degrees from The London University Teacher Training College, The Hammersmith and The Central Schools of Art.
Stroud’s work will remain in the gallery until Oct. 21. Gallery hours are Tuesdays through Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from noon until 4 p.m.
