Two sculptures stored behind the General Services Building were reported missing on Thursday, Oct. 23. The reported value of one sculpture is $45,000 and the other is $6,000. The two sculptures were displayed at Rider about 17 years ago. However, the sculptures were damaged and the pieces were scattered around Fine Arts and Centennial Lake. A faculty member collected the pieces about seven years ago and stored them behind the General Services Building.
One of the artists wanted to restore both works; however, when the artist came to collect the pieces this fall, they were gone. A staff member said he saw men loading the pieces into a pickup truck during the summer.
A female staff member reported offensive writings on Barack Obama campaign signs in Wright Hall on Sunday, Oct. 26, at 12:15 p.m. Three signs on three different room doors had offensive words written on them; one was biased in nature. Public Safety and Lawrence Township Police Department (LTPD) responded to the incident. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is encouraged to call Public Safety at x. 5029 or LTPD at (609) 896-1111.
