Dr. Dianne Garyantes – Adviser

Dr. Dianne Garyantes is an Assistant Professor of Journalism with the Department of Communication and Journalism. Prior to teaching, Dr. Garyantes reported for daily newspapers in Vermont, Connecticut and New Jersey. She also has worked as a researcher, writer and producer for documentaries and television programs for The Discovery Channel, TLC, Discovery Health, public television, and Twentieth Century Fox Television.

Randy Bergmann – Adviser

Randy Bergmann is editorial page editor of the Asbury Park Press. Before joining the Press in 2002, he worked as a national editor for The Associated Press in New York City. He previously served as editor of the New Jersey Herald, a daily newspaper serving Sussex County, N.J., and managing editor of The Princeton (N.J.) Packet.

Bergmann has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Rider, where he was editor of the Rider News, and a master’s degree in journalism from Ohio University. He also has done graduate work in journalism at New York University.

Bergmann, a native of Westfield, N.J., received the National Journalism Award for editorial writing (Walker Stone Award) in 2005 and was a 2004 finalist for the ASNE editorial writing award. His editorials were included in the Press’ “Fighting New Jersey’s Tax Crush” series, which was a finalist this year for the Pultizer Prize for Public Service.

Bergmann lives in Jackson with his wife, Alice, and their three children, Charlie, 8, and 5-year-old twins Will and Elyse.
