Drunk in public

An underage student was nabbed for public intoxication at the Bronc Diner. On Sunday, Sept. 23, at 2:09 a.m., Public Safety observed a male student allegedly stumble out of the bathroom in Daly’s Dining Hall. Upon questioning, the student said he had not been drinking, but the smell of alcohol could be detected. The Lawrence Township Police Department (LTPD) also responded and the male said he had been drinking off-campus. LTPD conducted a field sobriety test, which he failed.
He was carted off to an area hospital by ambulance because of the amount of alcohol he had been drinking. He has been charged by LTPD for underage drinking and by Rider for violating the alcohol code. The matter has been sent to the Office of Community Standards.
